why every child has to pay for the shipping?

I wonder if some one of you all have heard about that every child that is going to recive one of this boxes has to pay for the shipping from one place to their towns. If it is christmas it supoused to be free and with no charge whatsoever. becuase there is enough funds to cover all the expenses that it require to transport those boxes. There are children from 2 to 5 years old that don't have a cent, how in the world do they expect them to pay. They won't be able to recive anything. Is not that sad. doesn't break your heart to hear this. I mean that is wrong for try to get money for some other reason. I thought they were voluntiers. Nevertheless I might say that things like these are happening in South America Peru, churches asking kids from small villages to pay 2 soles for everybox. If someone sees this, just email Operation christmas Child for them to fix this.

From what I understand, a $5 donation is requested from each person SENDING a shoebox. Each child that receives a shoebox receives it free of charge! What a Christmas gift!!

We have indeed been charged $5.00 (last year) apparently for the shipping. What really happens with the $5.00,  do the children recieving truly get it free, and why are people imposing christiantiy to peoples who are very likely of a different faith and of a very different culture???

The children do do not pay anything to recieve these gifts. They are just that gifts. As far as the person sending the gift being charged this is not authorized or indorsed by Operation Christmas Child as the packing, shipment and everything else involved is totally a volunteer effort. If you have been charged for sending a package I suggest you confront the collection center to relsolve this issue.I live in the western United States and know that the collection center in Denver is staffed entirely by volunteers. I would suggest that each individual check out Samartians Purse and then let God lead you as he will.

Hi,

I'm with operation Christmas Child.

No the Children don't pay for the boxes, it's their gift.

It's requested that each shoe box donated, is also received with 5 dollars in the box. Beacuse of the shipping per box. If not included someone will donate it out of pocket, so the boxes get to thoes  who need them.

The children get the boxes. No charge.
